Curriculum
…for your continued learning
The LTD curriculum reflects training that focuses on leadership skills while understanding that knowledge is an enabler of those skills. Though some of the training deals specifically with skills needed in a GWRRA leadership position, other training deals with Life Skills and Member Orientation topics that will enhance the member’s life both within and outside of GWRRA. In general, our training is designed to reach visual, verbal, and kinetic learners; our goal is “something for everyone”. It is the intent of the LTD to deliver training in a professional manner and to make certain that training is a fun learning experience for all participants.
|
The following training is intended to help members realize their full potential and to provide the best possible learning experience.
There are currently eight LTD training programs and more are being developed. New training ideas are constantly being considered such as; Chapter Training Vignettes, Training Videos, and WEB based Training. In the past year we have re-introduced the Training Record Cards, and expanded our training collaboration with the Operations, Rider Education, and Member Enhancement divisions. Our curriculum has grown by more than 20% in the last year and more expansion is planned for 2006.

The first five Programs of the LTD Curriculum are designed to be given as individual seminars. This training may occur at Rallies but it is recommended that the Leadership oriented seminars be given outside of the usual rally season since staff personnel are often very busy working for the members during rallies.
The next three programs are made up of modules designed to be given one after another in a single training session. In the case of the Horizons Program, this takes two days. The Instructor program is offered to any member (officer or not) who wishes to join LTD and help train by giving seminars. The Officer Mentor Program is an intensive training session given only to officers or former officers who have been nominated, approved and appointed to serve as Mentors. This position will only be given to a very select few and then only after careful consideration and scrutiny to verify that the candidate has already demonstrated many of the qualities of a Mentor and agrees to serve in that capacity for an extended period of time under the direction of the appointing officer. The Horizons Program is open to any and all members who would like to learn more about being an officer in GWRRA. The modules and exercises are designed to give the attendee a realistic and honest picture of what being an officer is really like. The intent is to help members make an informed decision about volunteering to help lead this organization.
