Q. When an expired Member of GWRRA wants to rejoin, will they automatically be given their old membership number?
A. They will be given their previous membership number as long as we can locate them within our system. Sometimes when an expired Member renews, they have changed their name and/or address, which makes them difficult to locate. For example, Robert Smith was a Member in 1999 and wants to rejoin. He forgot that he originally filled out the application using his formal name. Since he normally goes by his middle name, Jim, he now fills out his application as Jim Smith. We would search for Jim Smith, not realizing Robert Smith and Jim Smith are the same person. If he moved since he was a Member, we would not be able to match him by name or address. However, if he could provide us with his old membership number, we will be able to reissue it to him.

Q. Why do area reports have such limited information?
A. Due to Identity theft and keeping information secure we have reduced the amount of information that is being sent out. We were recently made aware of a Google search where you enter a phone number and it will give you the person's name and a map to their address. These are the things we are trying to keep secure for our Members.
Q. Rescue vs. Rescue Plus, what is the difference?
A. Rescue is a free benefit provided with your membership in GWRRA. It covers your motorcycle or any motorcycle you are driving or riding on, with 35 miles of coverage. Rescue Plus is an upgraded benefit for $25 per year available to GWRRA Members. It covers any motor vehicle you are driving or riding in with coverage of up to 50 miles. One of the benefits of Rescue Plus is you can be towed to a destination of your choice, not just a dealer.

Q. I have new Members that joined in December, will they be listed in the Gold Book?
A. No. The Gold Book proofing is finalized and sent to the printers November 2. We send out many notices to make sure Members update their records so the correct information is listed in the Gold Book. Unfortunately we have to have a deadline to keep the process moving. Also Members without a phone number or a code marked in their records will not be listed. The Gold Book is a Service Directory, not a Membership listing.

Q. A Member placed an ad in the classified section of the Message Board to sell his bike. He received a response from a person that would like to purchase the bike. He will send a cashier’s check to cover the cost of the bike and shipping and insurance. After the check clears the bank the Member is supposed to send the balance to the shipping company to cover the shipping. Does this sound legitimate?
A. No. Please take the time to inform the Members of the many scams showing up on the World Wide Web. Unfortunately anyone can view the ads and respond to your posted email address. We have placed a warning on the “For Sale Board” to warn sellers of these type’s of frauds. In the instance above, the member sent the information to us. We ran a Google search of the phone number, and it showed pages of this phone number being used in scams. Steps you can take is to block this person’s email address, report them to the Internet provider they are using, and/or report suspicious activity to:
In the United States, use the Federal Trade Commission Consumer Complaint Form.
In Canada, contact the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (use the "Contact Us" link at the top of the page).
Q. Can we give out this website address to members?
A. No. We do not have the site password protected, but it is a main source of communication between the Home Office and our volunteer Officers. For the Members, we placed a link to the Officer's Guidebook under the Downloads section of the Home Page.

Q: Why is my Chapter listing in Wing World listed in a city different from where I live?
A: Chapters cities are where the meetings are held. This helps new Members decide what Chapter they would like to attend by the meeting location.
Q: How do I change the city listed in Wing World for my Chapter?
A: Let the District Director know where you meet and he will notify the Home Office. When the meeting place changes, this will be required again.
Q: What do my Chapter Charter fees cover?
A: Charter fees cover the charter patches for all charter Members, listing your Chapter in Wing World and most of all it covers the two-million dollar liability insurance policy that covers Officers and volunteers when performing a GWRRA sanctioned event.
