The Good Stuff!
This month we are introducing a new segment on Officers’ Connection. It is called “The Good Stuff!” and is located under Updates. This will be replacing Sound Off; however, we have archived the Sound Off section for your future reference. The Good Stuff! is all about you, your Chapters, Districts, and/or Regions that contain the good stuff we hear. This is to recognize officers or staff at all levels. So, be sure to check it out each month to see if you have been mentioned in The Good Stuff!. Also, if you would like to submit something for The Good Stuff!, please email the information to plee@gwrra.org.
New Region D Directors
Hi Everybody,
Tom and Sandy Taggart have decided to step down effective May 1, 2008. They want to have more time with their family and the new additions that are on the way. Thank you Tom and Sandy for all your hard work. We appreciate everything you have done for GWRRA and Region D. Tom and Sandy have dedicated many years to helping the Members of GWRRA and have done a great job! Thank you.
Speaking of doing a great job, I am proud to announce our new Region D Directors, Ron and Dianna Miller. They have been in GWRRA since 1985 and have held numerous positions since they joined, both Operations and Rider Education. Please view the picture and bio below from Ron and Dianna.
Congratulations Ron and Dianna, and welcome aboard!
We are Ronald L. & Dianna M. Miller from Stockbridge, Michigan. We met while we were in high school. Dianna graduated from Northwest High School in Pioneer, Ohio, and Ron graduated from Montpelier High in Montpelier, Ohio. After graduating, we were married on December 7, 1958. We will be celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary this year. We have 3 children, 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
On March 1, 1985, we joined the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. A couple of years later we found our home with Chapter J in Jackson, Michigan. In 1990 we became Assistant Chapter Directors. In 1991, we were selected as the Chapter Couple of the Year and went on to become the Michigan District Couple of the Year. In 1992 we were appointed as Assistant District Directors under Lorne & Carol Haase. We became the Michigan District Directors in August of 1995 and held that position until August of 1998.
We went back to our home Chapter, and in 2000 we accepted the position of Chapter Educators. In 2001 and 2005, we were chosen as the Michigan Educators of the Year. We became Senior Chapter Educators and Certified Seminar Presenters in 2003 and are still active Presenters. In 2005 we received a National Rider Education “Merit Award” at Wing Ding.
In 2006 we both received our Master Tour Rider Level IV #199 & #200 “Life Grand Master” rockers. In August of 2007, Ron became one of the first seven GWRRA “Advanced Rider Course” Instructors in Michigan.
In February of 2008, at our Wingless Weekend, on behalf of the Members and District Staff of Michigan, Chris & Sally Bobek, the Senior District Directors, presented us with a “Michigan GWRRA Lifetime Achievement Award.” Dianna and I were very honored and surprised to receive such an award.
We are also very honored to be your new Region D Directors, and we will try our very best to make Region D and the GWRRA the best it can be and have fun doing it. Our door is always open, the coffee pot is on and the iced tea is in the fridge. Feel free to call or stop in at anytime, you’re always WELCOME!

Wing Ding Postmark Available
As you all know, this year's Wing Ding is a truly special one. To commemorate this special 30th Anniversary event, David Smith has designed a GWRRA pictorial postmark. The South Carolina Postal Service will set up a temporary post office at Wing Ding. Anyone interested in obtaining this postmark will need to bring a self-addressed stamped envelop to the post office booth to obtain the postmark. They will hold this cancel design "open" for thirty days to give interested persons who could not attend Wing Ding the chance to obtain the special postmark. At the end of thirty days, the design will be retired and become postal history. There is no charge for this service. What a wonderful keepsake this will make!
