Trike Riders International Executive Director Announced
Phoenix, AZ (December 8, 2008) – Trike Riders International is proud to announce the appointment of Bob Larsen as the new TRI Executive Director.  Bob was chosen for the position this fall after former TRI Executive Director Tom Goettl tendered his resignation in late August.

Bob and his wife Linda come primarily from a Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) background – an organization in which they’ve been highly involved for more than a decade.  They joined TRI in 2005.

Both born and raised in the Western suburbs of Chicago, Bob and Linda knew each other since they were about six years old.  They began dating after Bob returned from the Service and have been married for 49 years.  They have a daughter, a son, and four grandchildren, and they both worked in management in the manufacturing sector, from which they retired in 2003.

Bob and Linda have been involved and have managed not-for-profit organizations for most of their lives.  In addition to working with organizations like GWRRA, they have also spent most of their married life working with youth from the ages of 10 through 21.  During their years as GWRRA Members, they have held various positions within the organization, including (just prior to moving to North Carolina) Senior Chapter Directors of IL-A2, the Gypsy Wheels out of Mount Prospect, Illinois.  Also, both are Senior Master Level 4 riders and participate in – and strongly believe that – rider education saves lives.

Active members of GWRRA since 1996, they became involved with GWRRA after they sold their Suzuki Cavalcade motorcycle and purchased a 1996 GL1500.  After putting 100,000 miles on the 1500, they decided to sell it and purchase a trike – mainly because of the difficulty in getting their two-wheeler up to their house in the mountains of Western North Carolina.  They also became involved with GWRRA’s Trike Special Interest Group.

Bob and Linda say they have never looked back on their decision to go to a trike and enjoy riding their 2003 Metallic Silver GL1800 with a 2005 Hannigan conversion more than ever.  They currently reside in Pine Ridge, Florida, about 90 miles north of Tampa.

Bob and Linda say they are looking forward to the work ahead of them in TRI and working with all of the current and future Officers and Members of TRI.  They say they hope to build a closer working relationship with sister organization GWRRA and to build on the foundation and work that has been done by the TRI leadership that preceded them.

“We will continue to build on that foundation to keep Trike Riders International growing and active,” say Bob and Linda.  Their other goals include increasing TRI membership and getting new Chapters started in every state that can support them with Members; focusing on Trike rider education; and forming close relationships with all of the trike manufacturers and their dealers to promote triking among the motorcycling community as a positive move for riders who choose to trike their motorcycle or purchase a new or used trike.

Trike Riders International is a social organization begun in 2003 for riders of trikes.  Its sister association, GWRRA, is the world’s largest single-marque social organization for owners and riders of Honda Gold Wing and Valkyrie motorcycles.  Founded in 1977, GWRRA is an international association with over 75,000 members worldwide.
