Lynda and I were high school sweethearts and married soon after graduation.  In January, we will be celebrating our 49th anniversary.

 Clayton spent the first three years of our marriage in the Army serving our country. Most of his service time was in Germany. I was able to join him in Germany for 24 months. That was quite an adventure for someone who had never been away from home except for 2 weeks at church camp. Our son, Danny, was born in Hidelburg,Germany. We also have a daughter, Denise, who was born 13 months after our son. After returning to the States, we settled in our hometown of Sedalia, Missouri, where we still live. Our children have blessed us with 5 grandchildren and at last count we had 9 great-grandchildren.

Clayton retired from Firestone as owner/manager after 32 years. He recently retired from a part time job as a maintenance supervisor. Lynda had several jobs as the children were growing up. After they left home, Lynda went to school and received her LPN degree. She retired from a doctor’s office, but still fills in when needed.

We have ridden motorcycles most of our married life. Our Gold Wing adventure began in 1994 with a burgundy 1200. We  went to our first Wing Ding in July of 1995. Just before we left, we bought a new 1995 Pearl Magenta. Clayton could hardly wait to get to Wing Ding. He had heard about all the vendors and the CHROME. He was there waiting for the doors to open. We found more than chrome, we found a new family and wanted to be part of it. 

Wanting to know more about GWRRA, we talked to the Missouri District Directors. Soon after talking with them, we chartered Chapter B2 in Sedalia, Missouri. The Chapter designation B2 was chosen because Whiteman Air Force Base is only a few miles from us, and that is where the Stealth Bomber is stationed.  We were that Chapter’s first Directors and also became the first Senior Chapter Directors in Missouri.

In 2005, we were selected as Chapter Couple of the Year. We were also selected Missouri District Couple of the Year for 2006-2007 and Region E Couple of the Year 2007-2008. We are currently Chapter Treasurer, Recruiter, and Missouri District MAD. We are both Senior Level 1V and stay current on all riding courses and MFA courses.  We have ridden over 290,000 safe miles.
